On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May 2012, The Oxford Hotel played host to the most gorgeous little bridal fair in Perth.  First Comes Love, the brainchild of Studio Bomba's Leah Dent and Angela Mitchell was a wonderful weekend filled with amazing suppliers for brides and grooms looking for something a little different.

Many suppliers gathered at The Oxford on Friday to start the set up process but as the fair commenced at 11am on Saturday there was plenty of time to get around and 'ooh and aah' at the most wonderful displays imaginable.  Goodness me, Perth has some incredible talent!  As a celebrant I craft words and work with couples to create a ceremony that reflects their individuality.  But I'll be honest here - I can't even draw a stick person very well.  Writing and talking - yes, drawing - nope ....  Dresses to die for, stationery and other wonderful paper products, millinery, jewellery, makeup, hair and so many talented photographers.  I couldn't believe the amazing sights before my eyes all ready and waiting for the many brides, mothers, sisters (and even a few grooms) who visited over the weekend.

I shared the Boardroom with some fabulous wedding folk, including Karolina and Jodie from Merge Photography, Jappalin from Flowertalk, Bethamy Linton (a fourth generation silversmith - wow) and Cathrin, wedding stylist and planner from Cathrin D'Entremont Weddings.  By the end of Day 1, I could confidently (?) tell you the difference between a peony and a David Austen rose thanks to the very lovely Jappalin from Flowertalk.  She even helped me fix my little display of flowers!  We all had a lot of fun in the Boardroom, admiring the collective talent in the room and helping and learning from each other.

Over the course of the weekend I met some of the loveliest people.  Some were already my clients, popping in to say hello and hoping to finalise some remaining details with other suppliers for their big day.  Some were engaged with a date already set, others were there for inspiration and walked out the door armed with everything they needed to plan the wedding of their dreams.  I also spoke to quite a number of young ladies who weren't quite engaged - yet - but came along as moral support for their friends or to simply dream about what might be in the coming year or so....  And the exhibitors - what a friendly and supportive bunch of clever people!  We all enjoyed some bubbles and stories together as we packed away and reflected on the wonderful weekend that was First Comes Love.

So you can sort of 'get the picture' from my own iPhone images above, but for some much better ones check out Jodie and Karolina's blogpost on their website or the First Comes Love Facebook page.

Thanks to all the wonderful brides and grooms I have already spoken to since the fair.  I can't wait to start planning your ceremony with you!
